The environmental dimension of Corporate Social Responsibility in Cuba
Abstract
The article aims to analyze the environmental dimension of Corporate Social Responsibility in Cuba. A review of the existing literature in this regard was carried out. The country’s potential to advance in this process was described. The following were identified: national environmental problems (their causes, to understand the degree of responsibility of companies in them), opportunities and challenges to assume socially responsible behavior. It was shown that this dimension focuses on the recognition that companies have a responsibility with the protection of natural resources. That Cuba has the potential to integrate the environmental dimension of Corporate Social Responsibility into its development strategy, taking advantage of its natural resources, the existing regulatory framework, international cooperation and its highly qualified workforce. However, it faces challenges related to resource limitation, corporate awareness and culture, and effective implementation of the regulatory framework.
