Abstract

The Latin American and Caribbean economic integration has historically had strengths and eaknesses in correspondence with the economic, political and social development and economic policies under the influence of neoliberal globalization.Cuba as a member of this group has developed strategies to incorporate international organizations and groups of countries to achieve better integration into the international economy, especially in the Caribbean. Santiago de Cuba, the second major commercial stock in the nation, has witnessed how the strategies applied in the territory and trade fairs have helped to raise the export culture, the technical level of industry, service quality and satisfaction the people. It is therefore important to assess the challenges to overcome and potential of the province, to allow greater participation in the Caribbean integration process. The aim of this study is to analyze the potential of the province of Santiago de Cuba for the projection of trade with the Caribbean.
