The state of creativity in the startup ecosystems in Peru

Abstract

The birth of each startup - emerging company - as an economic-business model that must link entrepreneurship, creativity and technologies, brings with it the expectation of innovative and differentiated products. However, invigorating this added value requires going through an adequate creative process of building innovative ideas and competitive advantages that manages to synchronize being creative and being innovative. Therefore, the work consisted of evaluating the state of creativity in the startup ecosystem in Peru, for which an exploratory qualitative methodology was applied through in-depth interviews and observation in spaces related to the ecosystem. The main result of the research shows that many startups share patterns that allow them to create new solutions, improve their existing proposals, and retain their target audiences through traditional and digital tools, without defining a creative process, or recognizing that creativity involves creativity immersion in the abstract world of ideas and that could trigger innovation. This publication offers as a contribution the definition of the state of creativity in the startup ecosystem, which could promote the integration of efforts within it, the design of guidelines and the implementation of processes that encourage creativity and trigger innovation in the country.
