Contribution to change the production matrix in the Republic of Ecuador

Abstract

For Ecuador, the transformation of the productive matrix from an exporting primary model to a diversified economy represents a major challenge for achieving economic development in harmony with the environment and society, the fundamental pillars of sustainable development and the objectives of the 2030 agenda. The objective of the article is design a methodology to contribute to change of the current productive matrix in the Republic of Ecuador, based on the use of the Input-Output Matrix and sectorial balance to identify capacity reserves and productive chains. The study was validated in the Ecuadorian province of Esmeraldas during the period 2015-2018, the provincial Input-Output Matrix was elaborated, 47 economic activities were classified and reserves of inter sectorial capacities and productive linkages were identified.
